We had the incredible honor of hosting Ethiopia’s first astronaut candidate, Emebet Mehabaw, at Yuri Night Ethiopia. A pioneering aerospace engineer and space scientist, she also serves as the Regional Coordinator for Africa at SGAC, and has been recognized as the 2024 African Space Leader and a 2025 IAF “Promising Space Scientist.”

Her presence inspired so many within the Ethiopian space community and reminded us that even from here, we can dream beyond the stars. Many of you shared how deeply her story impacted you and now, also she has been mentoring students here in Ethiopia, Now she has been nominated for the LinkedIn Changemaker Award Ethiopia 2026 under the category of Best STEM and Innovation Content.

After the amazing energy and creativity we saw during the event, we believe this is the perfect opportunity for you to start creating and bringing your concepts to life.
