As the Hawassa University Economics Students Association (HU-ESA), we were proud to have 13 of our members participate in the First Annual Conference on Sidama Regional Economic Development, held on March 14, 2026, in Hawassa. Organized by the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) in collaboration with our university, this was a significant opportunity for us.
Our participation allowed us to create valuable linkages with higher officials of the EEA, representatives from Sidama Regional State bodies, experienced researchers, and lecturers from various universities.
This experience was more than just attendance, it was a platform for us to connect with policymakers and the higher bodies that contribute to the national and regional economy, and to see firsthand how research and dialogue translate into real-world economic progress for Sidama, Ethiopia.

🤝 Building the Next Generation of Economists at Hawassa University
📍 On March 13, 2026 The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) delivered an inspiring engagement session with the Economics Department at Hawassa University, led by Mr. Dawit Teshale alongside Mr. Eyob Wendimeneh. The session aimed to motivate students while strengthening collaboration with the Hawassa University Economics Students Association (HU-ESA).
🎯 The discussion highlighted the importance of bridging academic learning with real-world policy impact. Students were encouraged to:
